|

I want to insert stroke ordering to the jwpce, so it would be possible to see it on my ppc. I have found that in wakan the STROKES DB is used but I failed to figure out how to get it. If somebody knows how to get it, please, let me know! |

I think the stroke count information is built into the WaKan executable; you should see a stroke count and a button labeled "Order" beneath the large character picture in the character details window (obtained by double-clicking on any character in the grid on the characters window, or by selecting a "Details" command (Ctrl-D). Clicking the Order button will show numbers in the large character picture.
You can also ask for stroke counts to be displayed in the character grid, by going into Tools->Settings, selecting the Character list tab, and checking the box "Show stroke count in grid."
If you are not seeing any of this, you probably have an older version of WaKan. Note: if you are using WaKan for Chinese, stroke order will be missing entirely for many characters, and will be incorrect for others (the same characters often have different "correct" stroke orders when written for one language than for the other). So perhaps you are using WaKan for Chinese and tried stroke order for characters which aren't in the stroke order file.
The stroke order file is public domain, I believe, but I have forgotten where to get it. If you need it for some other purpose, I can look that up, or e-mail it to you. But you don't need it for stroke order in WaKan.

Thank you for reply!
Maybe I just did not explained correctly -- I DO like the stroke order feat in wakan and use it all the time :: but on the PPC there is no wakan unfortunately (yet? so I want to integrate the same stroke DB into JWPce for PocketPC::
---yes, if you have this public DB and description of its format, could you please send it to me!!---
thanks! |

-== sorry, but the delivery to your mail fails for som reason... so I ll answer here..
Thank you very much for the file!!!::! Each kanji in the file presented 4 different encoding -- very convenient.
I have already tried JWPCE + taka project but unfortunately it is under windows platform only and is still in very beta state...
Thank you again for the file -- when I'll manage to put it into JWPce -- I will let you know! |

Hello,
not sure if you are still trying this, I just found your post but I did just that for JWPCE but only for windows pc not for pocket pc as I didn't have one it should be just a simple matter to make it work though, you can find the patches at
